Windows 10 reached the end of mainstream support in October 2025, so many people now need to know whether their PC can move to Windows 11. This guide shows the official requirements and the quickest ways to check.
Windows 11 minimum requirements
- Processor: 1 GHz or faster with 2 or more cores, on a compatible 64-bit processor
- Memory: 4 GB RAM
- Storage: 64 GB or more
- System firmware: UEFI with Secure Boot capability
- TPM: Trusted Platform Module version 2.0
- Graphics: DirectX 12 compatible with a WDDM 2.0 driver
- Display: larger than 9 inches with 720p resolution
Fastest way: PC Health Check
- Download Microsoft’s PC Health Check app from the Microsoft website.
- Open it and choose Check now under the Windows 11 banner.
- It tells you whether your PC meets the requirements and, if not, which one fails.
Check TPM 2.0 manually
- Press the Windows key and R, type
tpm.mscand press Enter. - Look at Specification Version. It should say 2.0.
- If it says no TPM found, it may be switched off in your BIOS or UEFI settings.
Check Secure Boot
- Press the Windows key and R, type
msinfo32and press Enter. - Find Secure Boot State. It should say On.
- Also check that BIOS Mode says UEFI, not Legacy.
If your PC is not supported
- A setting is off: enabling TPM or Secure Boot in your BIOS often fixes it.
- Hardware is too old: consider a replacement or an upgrade if the processor is the only blocker.
- Staying on Windows 10: you can pay for extended security updates, but this is a temporary measure.
- Unsupported installs: workarounds exist, but Microsoft does not support them and updates may not install reliably, so we do not recommend them for business PCs.
