Microsoft Copilot is Microsoft’s AI assistant. You can chat with it, and on Microsoft 365 plans it also works inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

How to use Microsoft Copilot
- Go to Microsoft’s Copilot page, or open Copilot in a Microsoft 365 app such as Word.
- Sign in with your Microsoft account. You can try the free version first.
- If you want it inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, choose a Microsoft 365 plan. Personal, Family and Premium list a 1-month free trial.
- In Word, open Copilot, describe the document and upload your notes, then refine in the chat.
- In Outlook, ask for a summary of your inbox or a reply draft.
- In Excel, ask Analyst or Copilot to explain trends in a table.
- Check numbers and facts against your own data before you share the result.
- Remember that on Family and Premium, the AI features are for the subscription owner only.
